If you use Android devices, then you should know that updating your operating system is incredibly important. You’ll get the latest patches and fixes for various bugs, but you’ll also receive important security updates that will help you stay safe while using your device. Today, we want to walk you through how to update your Android device to the latest version of its operating system.
If you follow our instructions, you can expect a better Android experience as a whole, and you might even get some new features out of the updates, too!
First, you should know that device manufacturers use the Internet to push out updates, so you’ll need a stable connection, whether it’s a wireless connection or your mobile data. Also, keep in mind that your smartphone might restart once or twice during this process.
To get started with updating your device, go to the Settings application. From the options listed, select System. From here, select System Updates.
Your device should start to look for any available updates. If there are updates available for your device, they should appear on-screen. If your Android device is old enough, it might no longer be receiving updates. If this is the case, we recommend you start thinking about moving on to a different device.
If there are updates available, you can tap the Download & Install Now button to begin the process. The process might take some time, but it will eventually reboot with the new updates installed on your device.
If you are running a Samsung device with Android as its operating system, you can go to the Settings app and select Software Update. This screen should tell you if your operating system is up to date. If it’s not, you can check for updates, as well as download and install them, right from this menu.
That’s all there is to it! Now you are ready to get back to work with your Android device.
